Flume, Kendrick Lamar and Vince Staples release new collaboration “Yeah Right”

Simply put, this is easily one of the best collabs of the year, as far as can be told, Flume and SOPHIE have never had a true collaboration together, but after hearing the pairing on “Yeah Right” we really need one. And as for Kučka’s contribution on the track, it doesn’t really seem to mesh well with the rest of the track, book-ended by verses by Lamar and Staples – it might be the only facet of the track preventing it from being damn near perfect.

“Me and SOPHIE had worked on the song on tour, just a rough for it,” Staples explains to triple j Drive. “Then Kučka and Flume came in and built the bridge portion, then SOPHIE just rounded everything out. I definitely want people to know SOPHIE played a large, large part in that and in the album in general. I don’t think he gets enough credit…” – Extract from Vince’s interview with Triple J

Vince Staples guides the track, while KUČKA comes on for an absolutely beautiful bridge, but the G.O.A.T. Kendrick Lamar’s verse over a Flume production for the ages transcends the track to an unprecedented level. “Yeah Right” sees Kendrick and Vince provide their expected degree of prowess, atop a rare, abrasive Flume production of the highest caliber. Over the course of the song, gritty bars are punctuated by Kučka’s sultry vocals, culminating in the electrifying result one would expect from the supra-collaboration.
